It all started with a little green bug that had a big appetite. I first witnessed the devestation caused by the Emerald Ash Borer when the farm I so dearly loved lost 75% of it's beautiful ash trees within one year. What used to be a lush forest was now a backdrop of empty branches and peeling bark, small D shaped holes everywhere I looked. As traumatic as the loss of the ash tree was, I also saw opportunity. While the ash borer effectively strips the trees of their nutrient intake, they also leave behind untouched timber. After researching the cost of disposing of dead, diseased, and damaged trees, I sought a way to turn this problem into a solution by giving these trees a second life. I found that solution in a portable fully hydraulic sawmill.
